I know that this isn't related to Avatar at all I just wanted to post this in case some you haven't noticed. I was just on imdB (Internet Movie Database) and Marvel's new film 'The Avengers' has been out just 2 weeks arund the world and it is on its on its way to beating both JC's Avatar and Titanic. For Titanic, it took a year for it to reach 1.7 Billion Dollars while Avatar took just 7 weeks to beat it by $1 Billion. Which raises the question: will it take just 3 weeks for the Avengers to beat two of our favourite films? I think it will. I know that its been 3 years since Avatar's release but I was really hoping that the record would remain Avatar's until the release of Avatar 2 in 2015/16. What do you guys think?

Good news for Avatar fans, interesting news for James Cameron aficionados? James Cameron recently announced that he will never make another film aside from the Avatar franchise!
“I’m in the Avatar business. Period. That’s it. I’m making Avatar 2, Avatar 3, maybe Avatar 4, and I’m not going to produce other people’s movies for them. I’m not interested in taking scripts…I think within the Avatar landscape I can say everything I need to say that I think needs to be said, in terms of the state of the world and what I think we need to be doing about it. And doing it in an entertaining way.”
It's an interesting way to go, considering that two of his movies broke all records for most successful film ever. What do you think about his decision to foc…

There are quite a couple of updates on the upcoming Avatar sequels in the following article:
http://marketsaw.blogspot.de/2012/05/james-cameron-diving-into-avatar-2-3.html
For those of you too lazy to read the full article, here are the main points:
- James Cameron stepped back from world building, meaning another race/planet/moon in the sequels becomes less likely.
- Avatar 2 & 3 are still in the writing phase, design phase coming up next.
- There could be a fourth Avatar movie.
- James Cameron's team has spent the last 1.5 years on improving their software and virtual production methodology to save time, money and effort and on setting up their new L.A. stages.
- Battle Angle is pushed back to an unforeseeable future.
- The documentary about Cameron's Maria…

Yes, "Avatar" fans, it has officially been 2 years since the DVD/Blu-Ray release of "Avatar" today. Amazing, isn't it? Feel free to share any thoughts you have about this before. And speaking of Earth Day, I thought I'd dedicate this blog post to mentioning what aspects of Earth in 2154 interested you, and which were better and worse than right now? Yeah, feel free to talk about anything related to this. :) Happy Earth Day, everyone!

I saw this story on the news and I thought it was interesting and somewhat ironic.

Have to admit this is a very ambitious man. So what do you think?

Jon Landau mentioned avatar 2 and 3 in this interview i found today. I think its a different clip from that interview that chawk1993 posted earlier. Basically saying how James cameron's dive footage probably wouldnt be used, its more the experience from that. nothing amazingly new other than that, but he did go on to talk about framerates a bit.

Hey all. Now, I know that we all know Avatar 2 won't be released in 2014 while Jon Landau has denied any delay in production while being interviewed for the re-release of Titanic in 3D, we are likely to head back to Pandora in 2015 at the earliest. While this great news, its still not enough to go on while we all know that Sam, Zoe and Sigourney are returning as their respected it will be exciting to find out what our favourite characters have been up to.

In the movie Parker Selfridge got what he deserved and was kicked off of Pandora, I do wonder though if another punishment might have been apropriate to. Being the head of RDA Selfridge was always worried about what the shareholders back on Earth thought and was largely insulated from the consequences of what his decisions were doing outside of the base. While having to go back to Earth and face his peers are bad enough for him, I think it would have been even harder on him if he were not allowed to go back to Earth and was forced to stay on Pandora.
For one thing, it is not like he would be able to cause any trouble by himself, he would be at the mercy of the staff and the avatars in the human facilities. Another thing is it is not like R…

James Cameron has just begun his dive to the bottom of challenger deep. lets hope to god nothing bad happens to him down there. Check the news link for more details.
In other news, Avatar premiered on british television this afternoon.

When the Na'vi salute each other in this fashion it transcends physical sight of the person. It literally means seeing into the other person's soul. Believe it or not it is very customary to say that the eyes are the windows to the soul and it does have some credence when one look into the eyes of despots and criminals anyone can clearly see and feel the darkness that dwells inside such individuals.
It has also been used in films and TV shows for quite sometime one example would be the TV show Buffy the vampire slayer. When Spike got a soul and stopped being a soulless fiend Anja immediately recognized he was changed so much that she says the words "I can see you!" even though she had seen Spike physically many times before.

Director James Cameron has completed his first major test dive off the coast of Papua, New Guinea to the depth of 8 kilometers (5 miles). The countdown to the Mariana Trench is now on, a mere matter of weeks and a stunning dive of 11 kms (7 miles).
We are finally getting great glimpses of his solo seated submersible named DEEPSEA CHALLENGER. There are others in this so called race to the bottom of the Earth too, but I am loving the Captain Nemo vibe this obviously well designed craft is giving us.
If you think this voyage is a walk in the park, read what we already reported is going on right here. Definitely death defying.
Cameron has confirmed that he will be shooting footage with special 3D cameras designed for the 1000 atmosphere depth for…

Kaltxi ma eylan,
I have been contacted by the organiser of the Sustainatopia conference and exhibition, which is being held in Miami from 19th - 25th April 2012. There is something that will very much be of interest to us Avatar Fans:
There are two events happening over that weekend for Avatar!!
The first one is Avatar - The Summit: "Spend an afternoon exploring the profound connections between the world’s most popular movie and the creation of a more sustainable planet. Meet friends from around the world who share your sensibility and passion for James Cameron’s masterpiece. Create a new network and friendships for a lifetime. Expect many surprises and even a celebrity or two!"
The second event is a public screening of Avatar!!: "Enjoy the wo…

"Fans of James Cameron’s 'Avatar' may have to wait a little longer than expected for the second instalment of the 3D fantasy adventure as producers confirm that it will be four years before the next film is released. Speaking at a screening for ‘Titanic 3D’ producer Jon Landau who has worked with Cameron on both projects confirmed it would be a long four year wait before we return to the alien world of Pandora. This would give the film a release date of around 2016, seven years after the original. Landau told Entertainmentwise: “We are excitedly working on it as we speak and it will be four or so years before it will be out." The 2009 film starring Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington smashed Box Office records when it was first released. Follo…

Another thought has ran across my mind. I was wondering if Pandora could have an alternate name, what I mean by that is the Na'vi's name for their world. Now in project 880 it was said that the Na'vi did have a name for thier world which was the same name they had for forest(obviously a lot was changed from then to when the movie was finalized) but I would seem reasonable that the Na'vi would have the concept of "their world" even though they are neolithic due to the fact that not only are they "connected to their moon" but also the fact that they should have a pretty good "range" due to their use of ikran and realatively short distances between land masses. I bring this up because we as humans have a decent tradition of trying to name thi…

It's been a while since I've been on here and I have to admit that its nice to be back. I have read a couple of sources where the release date for Avatar 2 has been changed to 2016 as opposed to 2014 like it was stated by Jim Cameron himself. The sources I found this on was the James Cameron wikipedia page, the Avatar film page on wikipedia where it was stated by Jon Landau (the producer) that the film was 4 years away and the imdb Avatar 2 page. Does anyone know if this is correct? I would have loved to have graduated Film School in the March of 2014 and have to wait only 9 months for A2's release. I also know that the these sites are often wrong so please tell me that its not true! I mean, what has JC been doing since the first film's de…

I was thinking, I'm kind of suprised there was no "media" presence that I know of on Pandora.
Now I know it would have been in the RDA's favor to not have too much of a "third party" presence on the moon, but you would think that there would still be strong enough pressure from Earth for them to have allowed at least a few journalists to tag along( even if restricted quite a bit). Assuming the media in the 2150's is like the media of today you would think that they would be chomping at the bit to have a few reporters on the field, I mean with the situation most people on Earth are in, I'm sure they would like to view as much about Pandora as possible.
As for the danger of having to be there, I don't think it would stop some jornalists, I me…

Hey dudes and duddetes, I hope everything is going well for everyone... Ihavent been online due to issues, but abyway...I came across this saddening statement....
"THE Melbourne filmmaker of the most successful Australian movie of 2011 has died in a helicopter crash at Jaspers Brush in southern New South Wales.
Andrew Wight, the writer-producer of the 3D film Sanctum, which was shot on the Gold Coast and took just over $100 million worldwide on a $30 million budget, was piloting a helicopter on Saturday afternoon with fellow filmmaker Mike deGruy on board.
The aircraft, a seven-year-old Robinson R44 four-seater, is believed to have crashed on take-off, killing both men

AVATAR 2 is seemingly headed for a Christmas 2015 or 2016 release date according to Jon Landau (producer) who was quoted by Bleeding Cool at a preview screening of some scenes of TITANIC 3D. That would make AVATAR 3 a year later. This is all subjective of course as we just started a new year and Landau may have confused dates a bit, but I doubt that.
The news is sad yet not totally unexpected as my sources have also alluded to: Not a lot of action is happening right now in the project other than the fact that James Cameron and Jon Landau are hard at work trying to create their vision. You can't measure creativity (and that includes the AVATAR novel that Cameron has been penning as well) let alone predict it, but when pre-production actually…

source: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1676903/avatar-2-sam-worthington-underwater-filming.jhtml
The upcoming sequel to James Cameron's record-breaking film "Avatar" is going to showcase a whole new area of Pandora.
With the destruction of the Na'vi's Hometree in the first flick, Jake Sully, Neytiri and the rest of the tribe are apparently going to be spending some quality time in the planet's ocean. And, to try to keep the filmgoing experience as authentic as possible, Cameron would like to shoot those scenes underwater.
As an avid fan of diving, this is a passion project for Cameron, though he admitted to MTV News in the past that he li…

Fox is going to release an interactive version of AVATAR that will allow you to change the point of view from finished product to the various stages of production, like green screens, CGI and performance capture.
You have probably seen much of this new content already through various behind-the-scenes clips, but never all together in one release. As the title suggests, it is iTunes only. I already have three different AVATAR disc releases so I wouldn't be too thrilled about another, but a digital only version is interesting.
They call the green screen functionality "Green Screen X-ray" and it looks cool. You can move your cursor around to view the green screen behind the polished final version.
You can watch the official promo video below:

Its me again with yet another blog(hope I don't bore you too much;)
As I have stated before I think one of the most intriguing things about Pandora would be its weather and climate. The floating mountains are very interesting to me as they would bring so many unusual twists to the weather in and near them. One of the things I think that would bother the humans alot trying to fly around the mountains would be the freakish wind patterns that would be created by having huge chunks of land suspened in the air( just think about how much trouble it is to fly around terrestrial mountains in windy situations) the scorpions, sampsons, and dragons would have a heck of a time trying to fly(already having to use VFR due to the magnetism) and getting b…

I was wondering how many people that would go to work on Pandora would even plan on coming back to Earth. Not only that but would try to raise their families there even though the environment for humans would be harsh. My reasoning is I just don't see the average person(say the mine worker) starting a family on Earth, leaving for say a "six" year shift on Pandora and returning after 18 years to see thier family again, Just think, if you had a 2 year old child on Earth and lets say you were 22 and you left for that six year shift you would have aged only six years when you return because of cryosleep, but your child on Earth would have aged 18 years when you return, you would be 28 with a 20 year old child! Not to mention all of the other …

I know this has probably been discussed before, but here are my thoghts on possible offspring from Jake/Neytiri.
I think the odds that they would have at least one child by the time the second film takes place would be pretty good, the main reasoning is the time that would have elapsed from the first movie. For example a round trip for RDA to leave Pandora go to Earth and then return would be at least 12 years Pandora time, not to mention how much time they may spend on Earth until the figure out there next "plan of attack"(no pun intended).
Then there is the whole question of how long have the humans been back since the start of the movie(If they are exploring or mining under the ocean already, then likely they would have returned before th…

If this has already been blogged about I apologize. Mr. Cameron has stated that he wanted to explore the other moons in more detail in the future which I think is cool, but I wonder how they could be fit in to a story line that Pandora itself could easily fill up and then some. Already it fascinates me that the movie is going to explore the oceans of Pandora and still be involved with Jake and Neytiri. I have some thoughs, like one of the other moons could be used as a secondary base for human personell( especially if its atmosphere is better for humans/and or its environment is a bit more tame) but I'm not sure. I just figure that if the Na'vi are the only sentient living creatures in the moon system they would have a lot of trouble k…

O.K. this is the first time that I have tried this. I have always been fasicnated by weather, and so I think one of the most interesting aspects about Pandora would be something alot of people might overlook and that would be its weather. So one thought I am going to put out there is how Hometree would cope with Thunderstorms (assuming tropical environment= alot of covective weather and plenty of lightning). The thing that sticks out at me is that "Hometrees" are very tall and isolated trees that Navi' like to live in and near. I would think that lighning would pose a very interesting issue. I guess staying "inside" the tree where it is dry would limit the threat as the current would more likely follow the wet exterior of the tree, but giv…

Hello everyone! While this is an extremely old video (at least a year old), I have finally found footage of Laz Alonso (Tsu'tey) speaking about Avatar 2. While this interview took place before the second film was even confirmed, the end of the interview might surprise you, as Laz has stated that Tsu'tey never really died just because he fell off the plane, and that he could have caught on some leaves or branches on the fall down! This may be an obvious reference to Tsu'tey's extended death in the Extended Release of the film, but Laz obviously knew about the scene being that he filmed it. So, does this mean that Tsu'tey may have survived??? Alonso further stated he would love for Tsu'tey to return. While many of you are praying that deceased…

Hi everyone! :) Recently while promoting his new movie The Rum Diary, Giovanni Ribisi (Parker Selfridge) was interviewed about the film. Before leaving, he was asked about Avatar 2, and I know you guys will find this interesting. Ribisi simply said (when asked about reprising his role in the sequel): "I'm not allowed to say anything." When the interviewer pushed him, saying, "You're not allowed to say anything at all?", Ribisi laughed and responded, "Yeah, I can't say anything. Sorry." Is this exciting news or what? I mean, he never really said anything, but the fact that Ribisi could not say anything most likely means that he will be returning as Parker! :) What do you guys think???

Hi, everyone! :) Recently I was (yet again) replaying Avatar: The Game for PC when I noticed a very interesting fact. Upon the death of Lungoray, if you look closely, he appears to still be blinking as he lies on the ground dead. It is what it sounds like.
Norm mentioned quite catagorically (I don't remember where) about Jake being on a 6 year tour of Pandora. A healthy rotation of scientific minds, workers and Sec ops personelle (well - those who survive) is to be expected. But a twenty million dollar avatar can't just be scrapped and recycled like the rest of the machinery. So here is the conflict: Grace put a full decade into her school, and will have been a resident at Hell's Gate for longer still. She's head of the avatar program, she has an excuse to be permanent staff. Dr Patel on his wiki page here is believed to be a member of the origional staff as well, and has not rotated back either. It is safe to assume that there are others whom we are not aware of, b…

While I do know that James Cameron has stated that the Collector's Edition will be the final re-released cut of the film, if he was to change his mind in the future and bring out a new cut of the film, I would love for him to put together an alternate version of the film that is closer to the script, a cut which includes the deleted scenes from the Collector's Edition fully finished as well as the alternate scenes, including Jake's duel with Tsu'tey and the scene in which Neytiri's thanator kills Wainfleet. My only disappointment would be that the scene with Wainfleet cutting off Tsu'tey's queue would still be missing. I don't believe that scene was ever filmed, otherwise I'm positive the scene would've been included as part of the deleted…

I agree wholeheartedly that, with the exception of Grace whose soul now lives on with Eywa, each of these characters should stay dead and not be resurrected in the second and third outings, or cloned in Quaritch's case, but I believe a return could potentially work in the form of flashbacks (not archive footage) centred on the conflict between the Omaticaya clan and the RDA prior to the events of the first film, which could possibly involve the likes of Tsu'tey and Eytukan as well as Grace, Trudy, and Quaritch.
As long as the flashbacks don't drag the sequel down or ruin the pace of the film, I'd love to see these characters make a comeback in this form. I don't expect everyone to agree with my opinion, I won't hold it against anyone who do…

Not sure if that title is punctuated correctly or not, but whatever! :) I have recently come across an article regarding James Cameron and why he thinks Avatar: The Game was not very successful among gamers, and I thought you guys might find it interesting:
Punters could be forgiven for believing that James Cameron’s AVATAR: THE GAME did poorly because in spite of its flashy 3D technology, it wasn't actually that much fun to play.
James Cameron has an alternative theory: the game flopped simply because because it launched before the film that inspired it, and thus lost the chance to ride on its coat-tails. "What I think we did wrong with the Avatar game was to release it before the film opened. I think that the Avatar brand hadn't been well enou…

A clip form a 2008 film called Outlander. Its crap and aint worth watching, except of this short part. It seems that somebody got a glimse at the script of Avatar when it was on the drawingboard and made this OR the part could be taken from some Avatar sequel/spinoff that got thrown into a timewarp and ended up in year 2008, where somebody but it into this film. why should this clip be posted on a site about Avatar, BECAUSE ITS SO FREAKING SIMILAR! With the exception of the ending...atleast we hope so.

In Avatar, we see a lot of Jarhead vs Egghead conflict. Well, when it comes down to it, that's just one faction of the ethical standpoint: Atheism. As a rule of thumb, they tend to cooperate better with alternative religions, faith systems and philosophies of every make and size. What we don't see (, hear about or even is suggested towards) is the inevitable headbutting of a major world religion(s) with:
A) the notion of another habitable world
B) the notion of sentient life outside our own worldor
C) the paganistic 'religion' (I struggle to use the term, cause Eywa's more like gaia and fate rolled into one, not really a celstial deity) adopted by the Na'vi, and the rites and 'apocathary voodoo' that goes along with it.
Let's be perfectly honest w…

When asked about Weaver's character returning Avatar 2 and 3 Cameron asked, "[Have] you ever heard of nonlinear storytelling?"
He goes on to explain, "A lot happens on that planet before she shows up, and before Jake [Sam Worthington] shows up to join her. She's there for fifteen years ahead of time. I don't know, but I wouldn't jump to conclusions. And I've already said way too much about Avatar 2 and 3 here and there, but people piece it together like those voice cameos and tell the whole story!"So it sounds like we're either going to be looking at prequel material or flashbacks or both. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if Avatar 2 was a prequel of some sort that suggested an alternative for the Na'vi after their home tree was destroyed …

I've been trying to track down a page on the ikran makto's headpieces, but I am unable to find one. The riding sheild, also of which I have been able to find a kocher name, so bear with me, is featured many times in the film on many people, yet no references exist that I can find.
Jake's is most easily seen in this close-up below, but any image i've found of anyone on a banshee shows it. Does it have a name? It is quite obviously to protect the eyes from wind and particulates in flight, and possibly keep the hair out of the way too, but I felt I should ask before (attempting) to create a whole page about it. Does one exist? Does it even need one?
