The dual blades are very dangerous short range Na'vi weapons. Presumably, they are used solely as combat weapons, as bows and arrows are more often used for hunting. They can inflict serious close range damage if handled properly.

The weapon appears in James Cameron's Avatar: The Game. It is used by Na'vi warriors as a melee weapon.
Dual blades possibly appear in the Avatar film. When Jake Sully is escorted to the Omatikaya Hometree, one of the Na'vi can be seen wielding a blade very similar to one that appears in the game.
