Welcome to your new home people, Hell's Gate. I'm Officer Midori. Not much on formalities, so you can call me Kendra. I'll be in charge of your orientation. Now, which one of you is Ryder?

Officer Kendra Midori (ケンドラ・ミドリ Kendora Midori) is one of the main characters of James Cameron's Avatar: The Game. She is Able Ryder's principal contact with the RDA.

Background[]

As a small child, Kendra Midori viewed the discovery of life on Pandora as an event that "completely captured the imagination". She became enamored of the planet’s ecosystem and its myriad of riches. In later years, she focused her entire scholastic career on the hope that one day she could travel to Pandora. She arrived on Pandora as a highly trained RDA resource officer specializing in the terraforming of biocompatible ecosystems. Her lifelong mission is to study methods to modulate the atmosphere of Pandora, one day making the atmosphere breathable for humans without inhibiting the indigenous lifeforms. She has level 4 security and weapons clearance, giving her limited command of security personnel.

Eventually, Kendra undergoes a profound change: she begins to understand the true nature of the conflict between Corp and the Na'vi, a conflict that sees both sides unwilling to reach a place of peaceful co‐existence. Kendra is soon forced to walk the fine line between her own personal survival and the survival of her lifelong ideals. In the end, she chooses to side with the one thing that has come to matter the most to her: the planet Pandora itself.

If Ryder chooses to side with the RDA, Kendra dies going off to find Commander Falco.

Trivia[]

  • Midori is Japanese for "green".
  • She mentions she finds avatars creepy-looking.
  • Kendra's design and personality have been compared to Jade, the main protagonist of Beyond Good and Evil. Both Beyond Good and Evil and the PC/Xbox 360/PS3 version of James Cameron's Avatar: The Game were developed and published by Ubisoft. This and the reference to the color green in both of their names has lead some fans to believe it was an intentional reference on Ubisoft's part.[1]

Memorable Quotes[]
