Joel David Moore (born September 25, 1977) is an American actor who has made appearances in television commercials, feature films, music videos, and television series.

BiographyEdit

Moore was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He went to Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon where he earned his BFA in Performance Arts degree and performed for two summers at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

In 2000, he moved to Los Angeles and reunited with his agent from Portland, Rachelle Ryan, who is now a manager in Los Angeles.

The lanky and slightly gaunt character actor Joel David Moore specialized in portrayals of slightly goofy eccentrics when he debuted onscreen in the late 2000s, but also demonstrated the ability to play it straight when necessary, per his lead in the slasher outing Hatchet (2006).

Moore specialized in comedies, with a particularly off-the-wall performance as team player Owen in the Ben Stiller/Vince Vaughn comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004).

He was equally memorable in the frat-boy laughers Grandma's Boy (2006) and the 2007 Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning (as backwoodsman Cooter).

In 2007, Moore joined the cast of James Cameron's massively budgeted, elephantine sci-fi opus Avatar (2009). Starting his career in commercials, he has been in over 15 nationals (including eBay, Cingular Wireless, and Best Buy). Moore shot an international campaign for a branch of Siemens cell phones, XELIBRI, which won a Lion Award.

Moore is best known for his role in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. Moore has appeared in nearly a dozen television shows, including: LAX, CSI, The Guardian, Strong Medicine, Six Feet Under, Angel, Providence, Boomtown, Boston Public, Bones and House. Moore had a starring role in the romantic comedy The Hottie and the Nottie. He also had a remarkable role in the comedic music video for pop star Katy Perry's hit single Waking up in Vegas.
