  • Shell Fruit has fibrous, segmented orange flesh encased in a tough, bark-like shell.

  • Bladder polyps are eaten by the Na’vi for their juicy salty taste, which is somewhat like a pickle.
  • Dapophet leaves that are filled with water are collected and used by the Na'vi to drink from during their travels.
  • Delta tree leaves and roots. The Na'vi have learned to strip off the lower leaf epidermis, which contains the poison glands, and harvest the tasty insides of the leaves. Roots that are non-poisonous are peeled, grounded up, and used for flour in cooking.
  • Panopyra accumulate liquid caught in the plant's body. The Na'vi collect this and use it for a nutritious and healing drink.
  • Puffball tree leaves taste salty. Na'vi collect them to sustain their salt needs, and also use them to feed animals.
  • Rock Orchid leaves have a fleshy interior which are consumed for their nourishing properties.
  • Spartan leaves are edible and are also used for making mats and food wraps. Its fruit is also edible.

  • Sunflower Gigantus roots are very bitter, but can be cooked and eaten.

  • Banshee of paradise seeds are attached on the stem opposite to the direction the plant is pointing, making it easy for the Na'vi to harvest them. Although the plant itself is deadly and toxic, the seeds are edible.
  • Cloud Spitter seeds are a staple food of the Zeswa.
  • Cycad seeds are soaked to remove nerve toxins and ground up to use as flour.

Nectar and Honey[]

Various insects collect sap and nectar which they store in waxy constructions in their nests. These nectar combs are prized by Na'vi for use in cooking.

  • Direhorse Pitcher Plants produce sweet nectar that is edible not only by direhorses, but also by Na'vi.
  • Forest Hive nectar is light in color, thin in texture, and pleasantly floral in both flavor and scent.
  • Pale Plains Hive nectar is extremely clear.
  • Plains Hive nectar is dark, rich, and often crystallized in the comb.

  • Stagfly Ant nectar
  • Swamp Hive nectar is exceptionally sticky and said to have a bitter-edged sweetness when cooked.

Herbs and Spices[]

  • Blistering Root, though normally poisonous, can be used sparingly as a seasoning after being sun dried and finely ground. Its spice is called "stinging spice" and has a very sharp, fiery taste and a numbing effect on the lips and tongue. Many Na'vi find this flavor extremely unpalatable.
  • Earthy Herbs have a rich and distinct flavor, bringing a mushroom-like umami to any dish they are added to. They are made from the Delta Tree.
  • Fiery Herbs have a kick to them, and will impart any food with a degree of fire to it. They are made from the Spartan.
  • Fragrant Herbs are particularly aromatic herbs that exude an appetizing fragrance.
  • Mild Herbs have a subtle sort of flavor to them, giving an added dimension and a touch of finesse to the dish they are added to.
  • Shadow Spurs have seeds that can be ground into spices.
