Entertainment Weekly just posted this...
I'm tempted to say that it might just be hearsay until I see a video, but entertainment weekly is relatively respectable.
This is the quote from Cameron: "We can have Chinese Na’vi; [and in the live-action sequences] we can also have Chinese actors who speak English in the film.”
“We are projecting a future in Avatar, and if you project that future out, it is logical that there would be a number of Chinese amongst the contingent on Pandora.”
Lets not forget though that the original actor for Neytiri in the ILM Prototype of Avatar was none other than Korean-American Lost actor Yunjin Kim.
When they say chinese Na'vi I'm assuming they mean that they will have an oriental flare to them rather than actually coming from China. That I see nothing wrong with; why should the Na'vi not have other cultures and ethnicities? it seems a bit far fetched that one language and culture would be common to Na'vi all over Pandora, considering the lack of fast travel or communication.
