I just uploaded two interesting and cool plants that can be used to create other worldly type gardens, aeonium "Schwartzkof" from the Canary islands and Fuchsia ayavacensis (Fuchsia) from the Peruvian cloud forest. I live in San Francisco where we have cool, foggy 50 degree summers. I choose plants from the South American cloud forests, Island of Madiera, Canary Islands, Cape region of South Africa, and some plants from New Zealand and Australia as well as cultivars of anything interesting that grows in mediterranean regions of the world. These plants won't work for everyone but if you have a winter storage spot where if freezes or a shady area where it gets over 90 degrees in summer you can keep most of them anywhere. I will be adding more as I have time. I also try to choose interesting foliage on common edible plants to make my veggie bed more interesting.
