Jake's Ikran

One question I've been thinking about asking for quite a while is, when Jake became Toruk Makto, did he keep his Ikran? And how did Jake get back to the Tree of Souls at the end when he's crippled from the waste down? Isn't that an incredibly long walk even for Na'vi to get from Hell's Gate to there?
