Pandora: The World of Avatar

The Valley of Mo'ara is a region in Pandora where the native Na'vi and human ex-pats live in peaceful co-existence. With the assistance of Alpha Centauri Expeditions, Mo'ara has a thriving eco-tourism industry.

History[]

The Valley of Mo'ara is considered sacred to the Omatikaya clan. It was occupied by the Resources Development Administration starting at an unknown point in time; mining facilities were established throughout the valley and subsequent mining activities devastated the local ecosystems.

Revitalization and Cohabitation[]

Decades after the expulsion of the RDA from Pandora, Alpha Centauri Expeditions (ACE) and the Pandora Conservation Initiative (PCI) established peaceful relations with the Omatikaya clan; many RDA buildings and structures have been reclaimed by nature and/or taken over by ACE and the locals, including the bridge that leads to the ACE base camp and various businesses that cater to tourists.[1][2]

The Omatikaya clan lives in the mountains surrounding Swotu Wayä, the heart of the Valley, and can occasionally be heard yelling in approval of the drum ceremonies held by humans in the area.[3] Jaclyn Ogden and her team of fellow PCI researchers have repurposed old RDA facilities within the mountains' cave systems into labs for researching mountain banshees, whose populations were damaged by the RDA during their occupation. The lab facilities also include link chambers for operating avatars, which researchers and valley visitors can use to interact with banshees.

Habitat[]

Valley of Mo'ara Sign

The Valley of Mo'ara is near the Kapsavan River, an area home to various Pandoran creatures and the Shaman of Songs. A floating mountain range where young Na'vi undergo Iknimaya and tourists can ride banshees surrounds the area.[4][5]

The air in the Valley of Mo'ara is similar to that on Earth, meaning that humans can breathe without the use of exopacks.[6] This is due to conservation efforts to rebuild the population of the baja tickler plant, which absorbs toxins otherwise lethal to humans from the air, making it safe to breathe.
